Target group; Youth workers, Trustees, Senior Volunteers and youth club staff

Session time; 3 hours


This session examines key practices in recruiting, retaining, recognising and rewarding volunteers


During the course participants will:

  • Develop an understanding of the importance of volunteers
  • Recognise the importance of coordinated planning for volunteer recruitment, retention, reward and recognition
  • Identify good practice for working with young volunteers
  • Identify support mechanisms and links
  • Identify strategies for ongoing volunteer development


By the end of the session, participants will;

  • Assess the number and value of volunteers in their club or organisation
  • Identify the need for new volunteer roles
  • Identify key elements in volunteer recruitment, retention, reward and recognition
  • Develop an action plan for volunteering
